Campus and Facilities

Accommodation/Hostel Facilities : The Institute also provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. These are conveniently located in the close vicinity of the Institute Campus. These hostel and mess facilities not only provide homely and comfortable stay but also induce a sense of camaraderie and fraternity amongst the students. The accommodation is on the basis of 2 or 3 students to a room. Furnishings include a bed (the students need to get their own bedding), study table and chair, and a closet. The Institute management is very particular that the rooms are clean, airy, well lit and the 'amenities' clean and hygienic. A monthly fee of Rs.2500 is charged from every student utilizing the Institute hostel facilities. These charges, and the menus are understandably, dependent on various factors. Students requiring hostel accommodation are required to deposit hostel fee in instalments of 6 months each. The first instalment is payable at the time of admission. Subsequently, an installment would become due before the end of the fifth month. A security deposit of Rs.2500 (refundable) is to be deposited. No student will be allowed to leave the hostel without a 15-day notice, and without permission from the Institute Director. Even in this case the mess charges for the unutilized month will not be refunded. The Institute's decision in this matter will be final and binding. In case, a student leaves the hostel without permission or in contempt of any hostel rule, the outstanding amount is liable to be deducted from the security deposit. The students are strictly required to adhere to all hostel norms and regulations. Non compliance of any manner may result in suspension from the hostel, or even from the Institute.

Recreation /Sports :

Catering / Mess : The meals provided in the hostel mess are wholesome and nourishing. We like to encourage the hostel resident to take active participation in menu planning and other mess related matters. The mess committee has due representation of the students also.

Health and Welfare :

Computing  : Not only BCAs and MITs the computer specialists, but also BBAs and MBAs are expected to become computer literate while at IMS.  The Institute Computer Drome has large number of PCs, which can be used as stand alone computers or can access  local, national or international networks.  Like the ever-changing scenario in the world of computer hardware and software, the IMS computer drome is also an ever-changing and ever-updating environment. The lab is geared to provide the specialist environment required for MIT and BCA courses as well as the simulated business environment required for the BBA and MBA courses. We now have a brand new computer lab with all Compaq deskpros. A sample computer hardware configuration would read like : Intel P-III 450 MHz processor, 4.1 GB HDD, Multimedia, 56 kbps modem, 14 inch color monitor, with an NT Server. To be able to provide the BCA students with the latest in technical software, as well as other packages for BBA and MBA students, the software suites are regularly updated. Some of the packages that are currently available are Visual Studio97, Visual C++, Visual Basic, MS Office 97 suite, Adobe PageMaker 6.5, Adobe PhotoShop, Power Builder, MS Publisher, MS PhotoEditor, Web Browsers like Internet Explorer 5.0 and Netscape Navigator Gold and many other spreadsheet, database management, wordprocessing, presentation and multimedia graphic packages. These computers are available for casual use as well as for classes. The Institute employs its own specialist computer staff who helps staff and students to get the best from our excellent facilities.

Internet : In keeping with the contemporary methods of teaching prevailing in today's world, IMS believes on providing extensive global exposure to its students through the Internet. For the students, interaction with Management students from all over the world can be a great source of encouragement, besides providing constant updates on the current trends in the corporate world. This objective is achieved by the Institute's liberal access policy of the Internet Club. The students can not only interact but also exchange ideas for their presentations, dissertations and project works.

Library : The IMS library is well equipped with the latest literature in the field of management and related areas, directed mainly towards academic and research needs of the student community.  There are over 5000 volumes of books and bound journals.  Disciplines like Financial Management, Marketing, General Management, Human Resource Management, Information Systems Management and Economic Environment & Policy are particularly well represented.  There is a good collection of journals, newspapers, reference books, VHS cassettes, reports and CDRoms.  The library services are manned and maintained by a team of qualified and experienced professional staffs, who lend complete assistance to all library users.  It also provides access to a range of data bases used in project work & assignments.  The library also catalogues the project work under taken by passing out students, so that the students can use these as reference material.  The library also provides specialist books on various computer subjects.  These include titles on mostly all MIS packages and also on various languages like C, C++,Visual Basic and RDBMS.  Apart from these IMS also endeavors to make available any title that is not in current circulation with the library.  This could be in the form of a book, CD-ROM, Videocassette or Microfiche.  Other specialized information services are also provided on demand.
