About the Institute :-

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Faculty of Management is promoted by Mata Amritanandamayi Math with the blessings of the Divine Mother Sadguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. One of the many service and educational institutions run by M.A. Math, this Institute aims at offering modern, wholesome, and quality management education to develop a new genre of managers, driven by timeless human values and equipped with the best of managerial knowledge and skills. At Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Faculty of Management the students shall learn the most modern management concepts and at the same time, be sensitised to the socio-economic realities of their environment. A harmonious blend of our traditional ethos and the advancements in management science is the main thrust of the institute. The culture and teachings of Sanatana Dharma, along with modern management practices, directed for the well being of mankind and nature is emphasised. Eligibility

The minimum qualification to apply for admission to the PGDM program is a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 years of education) in any discipline which is recognised by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, or any degree equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks, and a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the Secondary/Higher Secondary/Pre-degree examinations (or equivalent) conducted by a Board/ University.

Those appearing for the final-year of the Bachelor's Degree Examination may also apply subject to completing writing their examinations, or viva-voce, if any, before joining the program. They must have completed all these before 30 June 2003. Such candidates will however have to fulfill the above eligibility requirements in respect of minimum academic qualifications for admission and furnish evidence to that effect latest by 31 December 2003. At the time of interview and/or admission, they are however advised to produce a letter from their respective college Principal/Head of Institution stating in the letter the date of appearing for their examinations, viva-voce etc. for which results are still awaited.

The schedule for payment of Tuition Fee in installments for the entire course is given below:

End of Term II : Rs. 25,000/- Beginning of Term VI   : Rs. 25,000/-
All other fees are to be paid at the time of admission or the beginning of Term IV. In addition, the candidate incurs monthly expenses on food. The current cost is around Rs. 1200/- per month per person. A late fee of Rs. 100/- per week or a part there-of shall be charged for non-payment of fees and bills by notified due dates.

 

Campus and Facilities

CLASS ROOMS : Most modern class rooms equipped with networked computers, and audio-visual facilities like computer projection devices, overhead projector and camcorder lend excellent pedagogical support to teaching and learning. Students are encouraged to make use of these facilities for enhancing their presentation and communication skills.

COMPUTER CENTRE : The Computer Centre of AIM reflects the synergy of Amrita Institutions, which are three institutions on one campus viz., AITEC which offers Computer Science and MCA programmes, AIAC which offers Diploma in Advanced Computing in collaboration with C-DAC, Pune and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Faculty of Management. It has therefore been possible to assemble very modern facilities and people with expertise who mutually support one another. The AIM Computer Centre is equipped with latest Pentium PC's in sufficient numbers. The current computer-student ratio at AIM is better than 1:2. These computer nodes are connected with a fibre optic link to a dedicated leased line of 2mbps for internet access, having an internet bandwidth of 512kbps and a proxy server capable of caching 9GB of data. The campus intranets are served by a Novell Netware 4.1 Server, Windows NT 4.0 Servers, and the PARAM 10000 high performance computing system. The PARAM 10000 Super Computer, designed and developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) was acquired by the Institute to have a high-end computing system to meet the needs of the campus and enable the staff and students to do advanced research in the area of parallel programming & computing, and and in applications such as CAD/CAM, Data Warehousing, Multimedia etc. Internet access at a nominal charge is available for students at the Centre.
Software Availability at the Centre : Risk Optimizer, Evolver and Neuralyst. Answer Tree, Decision Tree, General Purpose System Simulation (GPSS) Software, and various OR applications.
Object Analyst 1.0 and Relational Designer 2.0 Turbo Analyst version 3.11-G, Kewill ERP, MatLab ver 6.1 with the following tool boxes -- Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic, Control System, Digital Signal Processing, System Identification, Symbolic Math, Optimization, Wavelets, Simulink, Real-time Workshop, Statistics, GARCH, Financial Time Series, and Financial Derivatives.
Software Available at Amrita Institutions Computer Centre : The extensive computing capability of the Amrita Institutions is also available to students of AIM. Currently there are over five hundred PC's on campus for student use. Licensed software available include the following:

LIBRARY : Library is the repository of knowledge, where a student or researcher can freely and easily access the required information. AIM is proud of having one of the best management libraries of the country. AIM Library has a collection of over 7500 titles, 1177 journals in full-text with 963 back volumes, 37 computer databases with data on 733 CD-ROM's, 62 video cassettes, and 390 corporate annual reports. Adoption of modern IT tools has enabled the AIM Library to leapfrog into the big league in a short span of time.
Some Features of AIM Library : Business Source Elite from EBSCO -- A collection of 1700 international journal abstracts, with full texts of 1060 journals, and back volumes dating back to year 1984.
PROQUEST from UMI, USA -- A collection of 1000 international journal abstracts and indices with full texts of 500 journals starting from 1992 to 1999.
India Business Insight Databases (IBID) on CD-ROM -- Over 70 leading Indian and foreign publications scanned for news and analysis. Articles covered from 1993 to current with over 125,000 records and about 700 being added every week.
EXIM-India on CD -- A comprehensive CD-ROM database on Govt. of India's foreign trade policies & procedures, tariffs & duties, notifications & clarifications on exports & imports and customs & excise. The database offers the Exchange Control Manual of RBI.
PROWESS Database from Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) -- The most reliable and exhaustive corporate database. Contains a highly normalised database built on a sound understanding of disclosures in India on well over 7000 companies. Provides financial statements, ratio analyses, fund flows, product profiles, risks and returns on the stock markets etc.
CTR -- Complete Library of Tax Decisions The most sophisticated media to provide decisions published in as many as five leading journals of India containing full reports of ITR, CTR, TTI, TAXMAN, and ITD from 1983 onwards with catch notes, head notes, conclusions and analysis of cases & parallel citations. Further, the database has a speech engine whereby the animation inside will read the required matter, as well as execute oral commands.
The library also has on CD-ROM's, Encyclopaedia Britannica, World Development Reports, HR training modules from HBS, Proceedings of the ASQ Annual Quality Congress, Java cyber-classroom, management accounting & advertising casestudies, Income Tax Act (rules and ready reckoner), learning e-Commerce etc.

THE CAMPUS : Ensconced by the Western Ghats on its three sides and with the Coimbatore-Palakkad highway (NH 47) on its southern side, the Amrita Institute of  Management (AIM) campus is serene and beautiful yet vibrant .. indeed an ideal setting for an educational institution to contribute positively to the development of the student's personality and spirit. The Institute is situated just 300 metres away from the Ettimadai Railway Station, 2.5 kms from NH- 47, 16 kms from Coimbatore City, and 32 kms from downtown Palakkad.
AIM attaches great significance to the nature of life-style on campus -- intake of tobacco in any form and any other intoxicants is strictly prohibited. The serene location, modern amenities and the presence of a large body of students from sister institutions provide a distinctive atmosphere to the Ettimadai Campus. While there are few restraints, one is lightly nudged to be a little sensitive to the needs of other residents. Students learn to take care of their personal needs and grow in a conducive environment, and pay attention to their own self.

HOSTEL : Within its campus the Institute provides separate singleroom hostel accomodation for men and women students. Students are provided with modern facilities to make them feel at home. Their stay at hostel enables them to imbibe different life-styles and activities including yoga, meditation, sports, musical & cultural etc., suiting individual tastes and preferences. The two years spent at the Institute help them to strengthen their character and moral fibre.
A modern central kitchen operates in the campus. Pure vegetarian food prepared under hygienic conditions at the central kitchen is served in the student dining halls and in the canteens.

COMMON AMENITIES CENTER : The common amenities building of Amrita Institutions has a total carpet area of 450 sq. m. The various facilities include a medical dispensary, STD booth, polymer processing center, general store, grocery store, tailoring section, alumni association offices, dramatics club and photography club.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION : A healthy body houses a healthy mind. Amrita Institutions encourage the students to be healthy in body, mind and spirit.  Sports and games provide excellent opportunities for students to interact with each other, develop true sportsmanship and team-spirit as well as stay healthy. AIM has facilities for outdoor games like football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, ball badminton, kabaddi and tennis, and indoor games like badminton, carrom, table-tennis, chess and weight-lifting. A multigym consisting of eight stations is available for practice. Two specially made cricket pitches are available for practice and matches. Four tennis courts (two synthetic and two clay) are also available. As part of enhancement of facilities, a new multi-purpose indoor gymnasium, a standard athletic stadium, additional courts for volleyball, ball badminton etc. are planned.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES : The Institute encourages students to engage in various co-curricular activities that help in developing their creative talents and potential. A number of fora have come up primarily at the initiative of the students. The Systems Forum enables students to acquaint themselves with the latest developments in Information Technology. Colloquiums by eminent industrial practitioners are held regularly, and serve as additional inputs complimenting the systems courses
