ABOUT THE
INSTITUTE
Telecom and IT industries are witnessing a plethora of changes
creating new necessities. SITM, established in 1996, caters to these
needs by developing managers equipped with appropriate technologies,
IT skills, and management expertise. The institute offers a two-year
full-time Post-Graduate Diploma in Telecom Management addressing
increasingly demanding requirements of the telecommunication
industry. The students at the end of the course are expected to
become management professionals responsible for decisions involving
large annual expenditures for acquisition, installation, maintenance,
and management of telecommunication networks and systems.

Eligibility
The minimum
requirement for admission is graduate in Science (Physics,
Mathematics, Computer Science, Electronics & Statistics), Commerce,
Management & Engineering with minimum 50% marks in qualifying
examination. In order to pass in a subject in any semester, a
candidate is required to obtain a minimum of 50% of marks assigned to
that subject. A candidate can proceed from the first semester to the
second semester irrespective of his/her passing the first semester
examination fully. A candidate will be allowed to carry maximum 4
papers to the second year as backlog. If a candidate fails in the
first year, he/she has to repeat the first year course with full fees
if he/she is willing to continue with the course.

Accommodation/Hostel Facilities :
The Institute
cannot provide hostel facility at present. The senior students support
the freshers in finding out suitable accommodation. The institute also
provides a data bank of flats/hostels in the vicinity. The Campus has
canteen with mess facility.
Recreation :
Catering / Mess
: The
hostel mess is operated by a private contractor. Only vegetarian food
is served in the mess.
Health and
Welfare :
The Symbiosis
Centre for Health Care (SCHC) is an In House Health Care Centre
exclusive to the staff and students of the various institutes of
Symbiosis Specialists doctors (ENT, Eye, Physician, Dentist &
Pathologist) examine the students during the annual health check-up &
In house doctors provide OPD treatment through out the year against an
annual medical fee of Rs.300/- only. The medical insurance fee of
Rs.450/- payable annually covers a student for Rs.25,000/- via the
Mediclaim Insurance Policy and Rs.Rs.1,00,000/- in case of Rail/Road
Accident Insurance Policy respectively. For further details regarding
the benefits of the scheme, the student should contact the SCHC. The
centre thus provides both preventive as well as curative health care
services with a view to provide comprehensive health care to ensure
'Positive Health' in all members of Symbiosis family.
Computing :
SITM
has state of art IT infrastructure that includes sophisticated
Software Lab, specialized Network Lab with 64kbps leased line that
provides 24 hrs. Internet connectivity.
Library :
Though SITM
has completed only four years, it has fairly well equipped library
which is continuously growing in size. The library subscribes to
various Indian & foreign magazines on Business & Telecom related
topics. The institute also provides study materials, cases on various
topics, handouts etc |
