The
center was started way back in 1988 with just a few computers and
today there are about 170 systems making it one of best of its kind in
this part of Maharashtra with total cost of equipment around 60 lakhs.
Wide-spread usage of computers and its importance in Engineering
curricula necessitated establishment of sophisticated computing
facilities to cater to the needs of various departments. It is our
endeavor to provide one computer to one student so that there is ample
computer time for the students to augment their theoretical knowledge.
SYSTEMS : The center is equipped with HCL Magnum Mini Computer with 24
terminals providing UNIX environment. Students of various branches are
given practical training in languages like C, COBOL, FORTRAN and
PASCAL under UNIX environment from second year onwards. Apart from the
Mini-computer, four network Servers are available supporting about 60
nodes comprising PCs, PC-ATs and Pentiums. Third year onwards students
are encouraged to work under LAN environment to get acquainted with
packages like FoxPro and Compilers like Borland C++, Turbo Pascal etc.
Recently Digital and Compaq servers were added for supporting
Windows-NT environment apart from SCO open server which was connected
to 16 terminals. Two Multimedia kits are also available. Due to
inclusion of CAD/CAM as a part of curriculum for Mechanical students,
a separate Lab is established with Pentium computers.
INTERNET : VSAT facility is available to provide INTERNET facility to
all the students.
SOFTWARE : The field of computers is witnessing rapid developments in
software and hardware and at the same time posing a threat of
obsolescence. Hence we have been trying to procure latest software to
impart quality training on various packages to meet the requirements
of industry. Packages like ORACLE Workgroup server are available under
Windows-NT environment and front-end tools like Power Builder, Visual
C++, Visual Basic, Developer 2000 etc. are available to design and
implement projects. CAD packages like AutoCAD, VIRTUAL ENGINEER etc.
are also available for analysis and design o Mechanical Systems as
well as Building Plans.
TIMINGS : The center is working in two shifts. It is kept open from
9.00 a.m. till 10.00 p.m. on all working days. During college hours
the students are permitted as per the slots indicated in the timetable
for various practicals. After that students may work in the computer
center. Free access after college hours has evoked good response from
the students.

instrumental in developing packages for Library Automation,
Maintaining Accounts, Pay-bill and Mess bill calculations, Students
and Staff Information System etc.

The total
number of books in the library as on date is around 24,500. The budget
provision for books is about Rs. 7.50 lakhs per year. Common Wealth

of 1.5 lakhs are donated every year to our library. The library
subscribes for about 120 journals and magazines, out o which 20 are
International Journals and Magazines. An amount of Rs. 2.50 lakhs is
provided for subscribing to journals.
