MATS

About the Institute:-

MATS School of Business and Mats School of Information Technology, launched in 2001 are the newage 'smart', 'networked' and 'futuristic' institutions of the Jain Group. "The ambiance of MATS is similar to that you might experience in Infosys, Wipro, GE or Philips, not just in India but in Europe or USA" says Mr.K.P.Nadig, former VP, Cadence technologies, USA.

'Smart' at MATS means MATS is connected on a 24x7 basis through Internet, video-conferencing facility and a LAN. 'Smart' also means that students and Faculty alike are computer-savvy and believe in 'experiential' learning. They 'direct' the operations of MATS- incubated companies, do 'Live projects', oganizeevents like 'Vision Future', interact continuously with CEOs.. and they sandwich all this between core courses like Marketing, Accounting, Financial Engineering, Branding, Retailing, Sales and Distribution Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management et al. Says Owen Mascarenhas, Alumni from 2002-04 batch, "Life at MATS is characterized by pressure and pleasure, both of which you experience at the same time. Having worked through pressure cooker like situations at MATS, it is smooth-sailing for me on my job at Alps Consultants." Says Arkadip, also an alumni from the same batch as Owen: "The global exposure programme is something that every Matsonian  looks forward to.  We embark upon an  "Excellence trail" which takes us into countries like Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia for a Month. Our brief is to capture for life [in our minds] images of excellence: in business practices/processes in the Manufacturing as well as Service sector, in wet and dry port management and in Telecom infrastructure.

" MATS is 'networked' globally. It has collaborative agreements with companies in Denmark[ERP], in Singapore [Project Management, Techno-marketing], in Germany [Health care Management and Marketing Analytics], in USA [Webenabled product development and RTOS], in Mauritius [E-learning] and with companies in India like Accelerated Systems[Embedded Systems], Bigants [Data Mining] CCE [Financial Engineering] and Thought Circle[Automation].

Students of MATS gain confidence with every minute they spend on the campus. Kalyani, MBA 2nd year student says: " I had the opportunity to write ad-copies for 6 advertisements on the trot. These ads appeared in Business World, Business India et al. My confidence level is at all time high". Against this backdrop of a world-class learning environment and with strong institutional support, MATS School of Business and Information Technology aims at nurturing professional managers, technocrats, entrepreneurs and business leaders who would strive to improve the quality of human life. Turning out competent individuals who have an infinite capacity to not know what can't be done is what MATS School of Business and Information Technology strives for.

Invigorating Curriculum : Keeping in mind the depth of knowledge and skill required to be a master, the programme comprises of a vigorous two year curriculum that takes Mastonians through the very depth of their field of study, arming them with professional attitude, managerial skills and practical knowledge.

World Class Faculty : The best programmes can only be as good as the faculty who delivers it. The MATS philosophy is to recruit and retain the best minds as its core faculty. Visiting faculty drawn from the best institutions, corporate houses and consultancy firms from all over the world provide that leading edge. As part of the CEO series programme, CEOs of top companies from different industries come over to share their experiences and vision.

State-of-the-Art Infrastructure : Trifles make perfection and perfection is no trifle. Auditorium, classrooms, Computer Labs, Learning Resource Centre, Cybrary, Video conferencing and top notch student amenities form the state-of-the-art facilities housed in the sprawling MATS Tower. MATS also administers and operates separate residential accommodation for boys and girls.

Intensive Industry Involvement : The exposure and understanding of industry is a key factor in transforming students into professionals who can deliver results on job. Some of the distinguishing features of the Masters Programme are weekly industrial visits covering a spectrum of business sectors, visits to dry and wet ports, internship, dissertation, SME Development Project and Industry study. MATS also has association with professional bodies world wide.

Strategic Alliances : MATS has entered into strategic alliances with Edubridge (a joint venture between Savant Infocomm Pte Ltd. Singapore and Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore) for educational and training services that provides international exposure to Matsonians.

International Exposure : A unique feature of the MATS Programme is the Global Opportunities Program. Under this programme every student undertakes Project Work and assignment in a foreign country, where they would get the opportunity to interact with the stalwarts of the industry and the doyens of academic world. Further, the IT Students have the option of pursuing an online Certificate Programme in IT Project Management (CITPM). The Institution of Systems Science (ISS), National University of Singapore (NUS), examines this programme, which gives students the global acceptance for their IT Project Management Skills.
