About the Institute :-

Inspired by its Founder Shri Karsanbhai K. Patel, the Nirma Education and Research Foundation, first established Nirma Institute of Technology in 1995, followed by Nirma Institute of Management in 1996 to meet growing demand  for professional managers in the country.  In a short span of three years the Institute has emerged as a leading self-finance Institute. Besides its two-year full time, and three-year part-time, Post-Graduate Programme in Management, the Institute also offers a doctoral level Fellow Programme in Management.  The institute has signed an agreement with the New Mexico State University for exchange programmes.

Campus and Facilities

Accommodation/Hostel Facilities : The PGDM is a residential programme and all the students are expected to stay in the hostel. Permission to stay outside may be granted in exceptional cases. The Institute has hostel facilities for boys & girls separately. The boys hostel is located in the campus whereas the girls hostel is located in the city, about 12-km from the campus. Both hostels comprise spacious and well furnished rooms and permit excellent live-in facilities to the students. The hostel also provides facilities for sports & other recreational activities. The Institute provides free transport to the girls hostel residents to be on the campus till late evening encouraging them to make effective use of campus facilities such as the computer centre and the library. A separate hostel for girls in the campus is under planning. It is expected that the hostel may be available for the girl students of 2000 batch.  The hostel residents are expected to adhere to a set of hostel rules and regulations. Violation of hostel rules may result in withdrawal of hostel facility or even suspension from the programme.  

Recreation :

Catering/Mess : The hostel mess is operated by a private contractor. Only vegetarian food is served in the mess.

Health and Welfare :

Computing : Computing facilities for the students include labs equipped with 80 computers connected to the Windows NT and Linux-based local area network. This network also connects the faculty computers for information sharing and communication between the students and the faculty. There is an online setup for the electronic bulletin board, schedule, instant messaging, etc. Students also have access to the Internet. The Linux server is set up as a proxy server for the Internet and E-mailing, whereas Windows NT server is acting as the file and print server. The computers at the lab are also connected to the library server to explore information resources available in the library

Library : The LRC is one of the key academic facilities provided to augment the learning of students of the Post-Graduate Diploma in Management. It is fact developing into a leading business library comparable to the best in the country. The library includes a wide range of management literature, provides a extensive access to leading national and international business periodicals and an impressive collection of business databases in addition to corporate annual reports.  Issues of the Harvard Business Review from 1921 form an important part of the collection.

The LRC is the first in the country to subscribe to the EBSCO's Business Source Elite, a database (Internet and DVD Version) of 929 international periodicals in full text format and 1423 periodicals in full text format and 1423 periodicals whose articles are abstracted. Vans Electronic Library - a CD database of 12 leading Indian business dailies and magazines like The Economic Times, Business Line, Business India, Business Today, Business Week and so on, Business India on CD, and Prowess - a financial software of the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy from the Electronic Information section in the Library.

The library is fully computerized with an eight terminal LAN operating on specialized library software Alice for Windows. The user-friendly package facilitates issue and return of books, online access to the catalogue, and reservation of books. The Library has adopted the latest information technologies like CD, DVD, Multimedia Kits, Barcode Scanners, Text and Graphic Scanner and so on.

Providing a larger access to business and industry information, the resource centre is a member of the British Library - Ahmedabad and shares resources with other leading libraries of Ahmedabad.   

 

 

ELIGIBILITY

A three-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities/ AICTE as eligible for Post-Graduate studies with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required. Candidates appearing in the final examination of a bachelor's degree can also apply.

Applicants for the part-time programme must have atleast two years of work experience at a supervisory level in addition to the above eligibility requirements.

 

FEE STRUCTURE

Fee payable to the School per year is as follows :

Full-time tuition fee per trimester - Rs. 20,000/-

Part-time tuition fee per semester- Rs. 15,000/-

NRIs/NRI-sponsored candidates- US $10,000/- per programme

Hostel fees per trimester- Rs.3500/-
Boarding, books, reading material, electricity use in the hostel room, etc., will be charged separately as per the actuals. The tuition fee and the hostel fee for the second year may be revised upward by about 10%.
