About the Institute :-

GIDC Rajju Shroff Rofel Institute of Management Studies (GRIMS) is the product of a unique partnership of the Rotary Foundation for Education and Learning (Rofel) with the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) , and a Mumbai based leading industrial house having facilities all over India. The institute is located on the outskirts of a growing industrial township at Vapi - 140 km from Mumbai on Mumbai-Ahmedabad railway route, and is easily accessible by rail and road. With more and more industries coming up in the surrounding towns of Sarigam, Daman & Silvassa, Vapi commands the attention of entrepreneurs and businessmen.

With its vantage location, Vapi offers excellent infrastructure facilities to industries. The mission of GRIMS is to produce, in changed economic environment, the effective managers who will have impact on business and society by synthesizing the best in management practice and thought with the ethos of India. This means (a) developing a generalist perspective; (b) high skills of analysis and integration; (c) technical knowledge and skills: (d) leadership qualities; and (e) strong ethical foundations for management practices.

All the electives will have special relevance to the New Economy and will be from the fields of marketing, production, finance, HRM, and  IT.

 

Campus and Facilities

The institute is located in a five-acre complex, which, with a requisite built up area, was handed over to the ROFEL Trust by GIDC in August 1999.  The building consists of administrative offices and faculty rooms, air-conditioned lecture halls with audio-visual equipments, a state-of-the-art computer lab with Internet facility, a well-equipped library, a conference center, spacious hostels separately for boys and girls, and a well-maintained canteen.

Accommodation/Hostel Facilities : Separate hostel for boys and girls is located on the campus.  Hostel rooms are fitted with LAN connection and there is a provision for installing ACs.  Some of the rooms have attached baths and toilets.

Computing : Shri G.M. Bilakhia Computer Education Centre (computer applications and training center) is located within the campus and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, software and ISDN Internet facility for the use of students and faculties.  The following licensed software packages are in use in the Computer Center: MS Office Premium, MS Visual Studio, Windows NT Server, Windows 2000 Professional, MS Exchange Server 2000, MCAFee Total Virus Defense, and Novell Netware. Presently it has 40 nodes (mostly P.III), which are likely to be increased to 60 in the near future.

Library : As a gateway to business and general information resources, the GRIMS library would represent a comprehensive collection of books, company and industry information, news sources online, general reference books, a good selection of periodicals of both general appeal and special functional interest, and links of community interest.  Its services will include an inter-library loan scheme, reference services, bibliographical services and on-line database catalogue services. The computerized library of GRIMS has a rich collection of books (around 3600 books), subscription to more than 45 Indian and foreign periodicals, and has 72 educational CD ROM titles and CMIE Database.
Rasikbhai Meswani's Learning Resource Centre (a centrally air conditioned computerized library with advanced conferencing facility) is under construction (5100 sq. ft. floor area) and is expected to be ready for use by the next academic year.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in PGDMS Course: Graduate in any discipline with 50% marks or
BE / ICWA / CA / CS

 

 

PLACEMENTS

The placement assistance is provided to the final year eligible students who opt for placement through the Institute.  The institute has already provided 100% placement to the first batch of PGDMS students, who seek placement and yet to come out during June, 2003. The institute is grateful to reputed corporate houses and banks like Asian Paints Ltd, United Phosphorus Ltd, PSL Holdings, Guardian Plasticote (I) Ltd., Daman Ganga Paper Mills Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., UTI Bank Ltd, who have recognized the students as well as the value of the Institute.  The students are normally placed in a salary range from Rs. 0.75 lakhs to Rs.1.88 lakhs per annum initially during the training period, and in the higher grade subsequently depending upon the performance on completion of training.

Prof. K C R Raja Academic Advisor (Ex-Director, S P Jain Institute of Management, Mumbai). Prof. Raja is the ex-Director of the Institute and associated with the institute since inception.  His area of interest is Marketing.
Dr. N C Pal Ph.D., FICWA (Fellow), AMIMA. Faculty in Finance - Dr. Pal is the Director of the Institute and his area of interest is Corporate Finance and Power Sector Reforms.
A Dutta PGDM - IIM(A). Faculty in Finance - Prof. Dutta is associated with the Institute since inception and his research area is Mutual Funds & Portfolio Management.
Pankaj Patel BE (Elect), MBA (Mktg ). Faculty in Marketing-Prof Patel is associated with the Institute for the last four years, and his area of interest is Country Origin Effects - Branding).
S. Pandya BE, MMS, Faculty in General Management -  Prof. Pandya is having teaching experiences in reputed management institutes for more than 6 years.  His area of interest is Managerial / Business Communication and  other subjects in general management.
C S Balasubramaniam MA (Economics). Faculty in Finance - Prof. Balasubramaniam is having a long corporate experience with ICICI with specialized knowledge in project financing and appraisal. His area of interest is project appraisal.
Devang Desai BE (Mech), MBA. Faculty in HRD - Prof Desai is from a reputed corporate sector. His area of interest is Performance Appraisal System.
Dipali Prajapati BE (Compu.), MBA. Faculty in Information Technology - Prof. Prajapati is from a reputed corporate sector with specialized knowledge on application of IT in corporate sector.  Her area of interest is Operation Research, MIS, and Quantitative Techniques.
Dr. R. P. Pradhan MA (Eco.), Ph.D. (IIT, KGP) Faculty in General Management -
Dr. Pradhan is the faculty of economics and general management. His area of interest is agro economics & econometrics and mathematical economics.
  In addition to the above regular (full time) faculty members, the Institute engages the industry / academic experts to teach specialized subjects as a Guest / Visiting faculty.
