About the Institute :-

The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Hyderabad is a non-profit educational society established in 1964. It is devoted to Education, Training, Research and Consultancy for business enterprises in the public and private sector. IPE is the premier Business School at Hyderabad and recognised as a "Centre of Excellence" by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India, New Delhi, for doctoral studies. It has also been recognised by seven universities in India for guidance of Ph D scholars. It has developed strong links with industry and academic institutions and is the founder member of the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS). The Institute interfaces with a large number of public and private enterprises, apex business federations and global financial organizations.

Teaching Method

It is a semester course. The teaching method consists of theoretical as well as practical sessions and includes lectures, exercises and case studies.
Faculty at IPE prepares live cases and present to the students. The sessions are mostly interactive and participative for better learning and comprehension. In order to groom the students in to smart professionals, quizzes and surprise tests are conducted to tap the potential within the students. These are in addition to the continuous evaluation by the faculty through out the semester.
In order to relate the classroom knowledge to shop floor experience, industrial visits are conducted. In addition, seminars and guest lectures by the captains from business enterprises are also conducted.

 

Eligibility

A three-year bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities and AICTE. Candidates appearing for the final-year degree examination (or equivalent examination) can also apply. The proof of acquiring the required qualification should be submitted within four weeks from the date of commencement of the Course. Work experience or sponsorship by firms is desirable.

 

Fee Structure

The fee is Rs.75,000/- (Rupees Seventy Five thousand only) per year for the two-year course which covers tuition, foreign language fee, course material, computer and library facilities.

 

Prorgrammes

Long Term Education Programmes: IPE has a holistic perspective that education should be formative and not merely informative. It believes that human resource development is crucial for economic growth and that continuing education is essential. To serve Industry by sharing its expertise and in response to felt needs the institute conducts long term education programmes.
The Institute developed and launched the MBA (PE) Programme in 1981 to meet the specific needs of practising managers.
As part of its mission to provide trained manpower to the corporate sector, the Institute launched a two-year full-time PGDBM programme in 1995 with the approval of All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India.

The PGDBM Programme: The Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM), is a two-year full-time programme comprising four semesters of study including project work.
* The course is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India.
* The Course is also recognised as equivalent to MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Course Objectives:
* To facilitate accelerated acquisition of business vision, knowledge and skills to meet future challenges.
* To introduce a wide ranges of management concepts, analytical skills and techniques for problem solving and decision making.
* To develop understanding of current business realities and confidence to successfully run business enterprises.

Highlights:
* An integrated, multi-disciplinary Programme with innovative teaching methods to enhance analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Captains from industry/business regularly invited to address the students, bridging the gap between classroom theory and shop floor practices. The focus is on comprehensively grasping the business environment and evolving business practices.
* Personality Development module to tap the full potential of students by improving self-management, business communication skills and leadership, while inculcating work ethics and a proper career attitude.
* Emphasis on "hands on experience" in the use of Computers for resource planning and management.
* Learning of Foreign Languages to enhance placement opportunities abroad.
* Wider choice of Electives to equip students with contemporary knowledge and skills of management.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Research: The Institute has a strong research wing with a number of research scholars, sponsored by ICSSR and IPE, working on topics of current interest. Its Ph.D programme is one of the largest in the social science field. Research, both basic and applied, is the forte of the Institute and helps it in its training and educational activities.
The research studies of IPE have been extensively used by the Committee of Public Undertakings (COPU), and other Legislative and Government Committees, the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, several Ministries of the Government of India, Planning Commission, SCOPE, and several Finance and Pay Commissions.
IPE also publishes the "IPE Journal" every quarter which is devoted to social sciences, economic, financial and management aspects of public sector enterprises.

Training: IPE offers a variety of training programmes including Management Development and In-company programmes. Over 2000 IAS Officers, 20,000 Senior / Middle level Executives from Central & State Governments and the private sector have undergone training. The Annual Training Calendar provides for over 25 Management Development Programmes on topics of current interest to Indian Industry and Government.

Consultancy: The knowledge and insights gained in research have enabled IPE to undertake consultancy assignments for national and international organisations. The Institute strives to make available its special expertise and knowledge in improving the functioning of the client organisations and helping the management to run their organisations efficiently, profitably and cost effectively.
The Institute provides a wide range of consultancy services and has undertaken consultancy assignments for national and international organizations, like the United National Development Programme (UNDP), World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Commonwealth Secretariat, Department for International Development (DFID), Government of UK, International Centre for Promotion of Enterprise (ICPE), Asian and Pacific Development Centre ILO, Government of Netherlands etc., central and state governments, public and private sector companies.

 

Campus and Facilities

Location & Facilities: The Institute is situated in the sylvan surroundings of the picturesque Osmania University campus in Hyderabad. Its location in the university campus provides a serene academic environment, which promotes learning. To maintain standards and meet the expectations of the industry, the Institute has developed an industry-oriented curriculum and excellent infrastructure for its activities away from the restive crowds.

Conference Halls, Class Rooms & Auditorium: The Institute has well-furnished AC conference halls, Classrooms, a large auditorium, with modern audio-visual equipment, which caters to the needs of conferences and seminars.

Executive Hostel: The Institute has a well furnished Executive Hostel with 10 double rooms with a dining hall, lounges and recreation facilities, with catering facility.

Library & Documentation Centre: The library is the main resource centre of the institute, providing a conducive environment for learning. It provides excellent facilities to the students and faculty for their research, studies, training and consultancy activities.
F The Library has a collection of over 35000 books covering various areas of Management, Public Enterprises, Information Technology, Economics, Indian Management Thought, Psychology, Autobiographies and Biographies, etc.
F The Library subscribes to over 75 International Journals and Indian Business Magazines besides National Newspapers.
F The Library has a large of Collection of Statistical data and Annual Reports of  Central and State Level Public Enterprises, Project Reports submitted by the students, faculty and research scholars and back volumes of journals and pamphlets.
F It has an Audio Visual Centre equipped with audio and video cassettes on Management, Information Technology, and Communications.

IT Facilities: Knowledge of information technology is essential for effective management. Keeping in view the IT trends in the industry, the Institute has set up a well-equipped Computer Center with Servers, a large number of Pentiums and a variety of Peripherals with a 256 kbps leased Internet facility.

Recreation: Outdoor Games: Volleyball, Basketball, Shuttle Badminton, Ring Tennis, and Cricket.
Indoor Games: Table Tennis, Caroms, Chess etc.
GYM: Fitness equipment separately for boys and girls.
