The University : The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow is one of the youngest central universities in the country. The jurisdiction of this residential University is over the entire state of Uttar Pradesh. The campus Vidya Vihar is located off Rae Bareli Road, about 10 kms south of the Charbagh Railway Station, Lucknow. The objects of the University are : to promote advanced knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit; to make provisions for integrated courses in key and frontier areas of science and technology and other allied disciplines; to offer appropriate courses including agricultural technology and rural crafts relevant for the development of socially and economically depressed sections of the people; to promote the study of the principals for which Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar worked during his life time, namely, national integration, social justice and democratic way of life and also study of the Constitutions of the world; to make appropriate measures for promoting innovations in teaching-learning processes in interdisciplinary studies and research; and to pay special attention to the promotion of educational and economic interests and welfare of the people in general and of members belonging to the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribes in particular. All courses offered by the University are postgraduate, innovative and non-traditional.
