During World War II (1939-1945), an urgent need for training of technical graduates was keenly foreseen for the purposes of post-war industrial reconstruction in the Coastal Andhra Districts which were till then mostly agriculturally oriented. The then State Government (Composite Madras State) sanctioned, in the year 1946, institution of an "Engineering College-Visakhapatnam -- temporarily located at Kakinada." However, its location at Kakinada became permanent. |
